Being surrounded by three hills gives the estate the name, ‘Trishul’. A big stream runs through the land fed by natural springs. An abundance of wild animals like bison and spotted deer roam through Karadykan Estate. Beautiful peacocks showing off their attractive plumage, while dancing, enhances the beauty of the natural surroundings.
The Sangameshwar estate houses a 100-year-old,12 foot water wheel which runs by gravity, generating hydroelectric power for coffee pulping. It is undoubtedly the highlight stop at Coffee works.
Gungegiri
Estate
The British brothers WL Crawford and CS Crawford cultivated coffee for the first time in Gungegiri in 1890. The hills at the Sangameshwar estate are a copious water source for numerous streams flowing through the farm hence the name ‘Ganga’. This fertile landscape is a haven for a large number of peacocks amongst other species.
Coffee is grown under indigenous species of trees like Atti (Fig), Basri (), Neeroli () for cultivation under filtered shade. The hill of Gungegiri acts like the northern star providing direction to forest trekkers .
Attikan
Estate
Attikan was founded by Randolf Morris, a Scott who is believed to have ridden on horseback from Coonoor in the Niligiris to the Biligiri Rangan Hills. The name Attikan has its origins from the vast range of wild Fig trees which exist on the estate and influence the coffees with its unique flavours. The farm is situated at the highest altitude where coffee is cultivated in south India.
Being flanked by a reserve forest home to tigers, leopards, elephants, Indian gaur, black bear, spotted deer and wild native fauna along with natural wind belts helps Attikan and Sangameshwar Coffee Estates maintain its pristine nature. The farm having been the lair of deceased bandit Veerapan adds to its allure and mystery.
